You have to buy insurance when you own a car – be it the minimum third party, third party fire and theft or fully comprehensive. The market is competitive so shopping around will get you the best deal. The internet is a great starting place, and brokers such as AA Insurance will search their panel of insurers to find the best deal to suit you. Where you live and the type of driving you do will factor heavily in the cost. You can keep costs down if:

  • Your car is kept on a driveway or in a garage at night

     

  •  It has an alarm, immobiliser and even a tracker device..

     

  • You keep your annual mileage down

     

  • You avoid getting speeding offences – that will put premiums up!
